The scene unfolds on the legendary slopes of Col du Galibier, where history and grit collide on the Tour de France’s hallowed mountain stages. Carlos Rodriguez, Juan Ayuso, and Enric Mas, three Spanish riders from rival teams, push forward with fierce determination, their expressions a blend of focus and exhaustion. The wet asphalt reflects their wheels, and the towering peaks serve as a dramatic backdrop, capturing both the scale of the climb and the intensity of the riders’ efforts.

This photo holds a personal significance as my first venture into cycling photography. Spending the night on this mountain, surrounded by the quiet anticipation that builds before a Tour stage, brought a new kind of intensity to my work. It felt like witnessing a sacred ritual, where cyclists become warriors of the ascent, each pedal stroke a testament to their strength. Shooting this moment during the Tour de France 2024, among cycling legends, solidified a memory of both triumph and discovery, my own and theirs.
